Three Main Religions in the Middle East - 897 Words

Many have heard the term â€Å"the three major religions†, but how many know what is meant by this? The three major religions are referring to the religions in the Middle East countries, such as Iran, Iraq, etc. The religions are Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. With the close proximity of these countries, but the differing views on things, mainly religion, creates some conflicts and hostility. In America, people are allowed to worship who they want, and believe in what they choose. When someone says they are Christian, there is not a lot of judgement passed, but in these other places, religion rules all. Today we will be assessing each religion and comparing them to one another. One of the three major religions is Christianity. In Asia, about 1 in 10 people consider themselves to be Christians. The origin of Christianity began in Israel and Rome in 32 A.D. It was similar to a revolt against the Jewish, for the people that didn’t agree with the morals and ethics, so th ey altered it to fit their beliefs. Christians worship in a church, and to Jesus.They believe in worshiping him always and anytime you can. The book they follow is the Bible and the biggest symbol of Christianity is the cross. In Southwest Asia, the holiest city of Christianity is Jerusalem, which is a holy city for all three religions. One very important place to them is The Calvary. This is the site where Jesus was crucified. A few holidays they celebrate are: Easter, Lent, Christmas, and Palm Sunday.
